Medallion Awards

This competition is open to all PRCA members and offers opportunity for recognition of the practitioner’s work. There are a number of categories to enter, ranging from newsletters to total public relations campaigns. Winners are chosen by out-of-state judges and recognized at the October conference. Philip R. Forrest, Jr., Professional Achievement Award

This award is the highest honor bestowed by the Public Relations Council of Alabama to a single practitioner. It is given to recognize public relations practitioners who are outstanding in the field of public relations. One practitioner may be selected each year; however, judges are also given the option of not selecting a winner in any given year. The winner, along with all the nominees, will be recognized at the annual PRCA State Conference in October. Download Word Document with Guidelines

Sharon Heflin Chapter of the Year Award

This award recognizes chapters achievements in the areas of::

  1. Programs
  2. Membership recruitment, retention and participation
  3. Promotion of public relations internally and externally
  4. Projects, community involvement and other special events
  5. Accreditation and professional development

The judges use a rating system based on how well the chapter achieved specific goals for a year.. Their evaluations will be based on the merits of achievements and activities of the chapter as presented. Documentation of activities — through narratives, clippings, photographs and the like — allow the judges to make an informed judgment. Download Word Document with Guidelines

Grover Smith Lifetime Achievement Award

This award honors a person who has made significant contributions to the PRCA and the public relations profession through many years.

Student Medallion Awards

These awards are designed to recognize the work of student members of PRCA. Entry areas include total PR programs, special, one-time programs, total publications programs, issue/crisis management and other categories
