Birmingham-Southern College’s Office of Communications has an immediate opening for a Director of College and Special Events to oversee an evolving and dynamic major and special events environment at the nationally recognized liberal arts college. Primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating, executing, and hosting major events in an effective, efficient, and creative manner, including special campaign and alumni events for the Office of Institutional Advancement. The director serves as the college’s resident expert in the area of events management to provide creative solutions and other support that result in successful event outcomes. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years experience in a professional events-planning position. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, decision-making, customer service, relationship-building, and marketing skills; a demonstrated creativity in and strong knowledge of event planning and etiquette; good public speaking ability; and working knowledge of volunteer management are required.
